Bioproferm organic fertilizer is an effective means of humus formation

      The efficiency of the Bioproferm fertilizer was confirmed by already the very first experiment results, conducted in the experimental fields by the researchers of the Ecology, Technologies in Environmental Protection and Forestry Departments of National University of Water and Environmental Engineering (Rivne).

      The experiment was carried out on soddy-podzolic and sandy loam soils (Mala Liubasha Village, Kostopil District, Rivne Region). The agrochemical efficiency* of the fertilizer was determined in the field where corn DUMKA FAO was being grown ** and spring oats (without any fertilizers) had preceded it. The researchers also carried out a lysimetric experiment in this field in order to identify the coefficient of Bioproferm fertilizer humification as well as the coefficient of soddy-podzolic and sandy loam soil mineralization (for the period from May, 2017 to March 2018). Lysimeters were under bare fallow (with no crops planted).

      As Tetiana Kolesnyk, a doctoral candidate, a researcher and a candidate of Agricultural Sciences, who provides all scientific monitoring, informed that as a result of the lysimetric experiments, there was established a coefficient of Bioproferm fertilizer humification and it equals  Kg=0.53 (53% of fertilizer’s carbon got transformed into soil humus carbon), whereas the coefficient of soddy-podzolic and sandy loam soil mineralization for the mentioned period was Km=0.027.

Overall, based on the experiment outcomes, the conclusion is as follows:

1)     Bioproferm fertilizer is an effective means of humus formation for soddy-podzolic and sandy loam soils, which has been proved by its high humus formation capacity evaluated by the humification coefficient (Kg=0.53 or 53 % by carbon). As far as soils of loamy and clay granulometric composition are concerned, even better results of humus formation should be expected here as soils of heavier granulometric composition have a better potential for forming organic and mineral colloidal complexes where recently formed humus is better assimilated;

2)     The application of Bioproferm fertilizer for corn growing in the amount of 5 t/ha provided  1.88% (+6.2 *** % to the control) higher humus concentration in the soil as well as the concentration of P2O5 reached up to 111mg/kg (+35.4 % to the control), whereas the same amount of Bioproferm application combined with two foliar applications of corn by Gidrofert fertilizer provided a higher humus concentration to 1.92% (+8.5 *** % to the control) and P2O5 concentration reached up to 119 mg/kg of (+ 45.1 % to the control);

3)     Corn crop (grain) due to the application of Bioproferm fertilizers in the amount of 5t/ha was 9.2 t/ha (+35.4 % to the control) and when combined with two foliar applications of Gidrofert fertilizer, the corn crop reached 10.1 t/ha (+ 45.1 % to the control)

      Therefore, Tetiana Kolesnyk concludes that Bioproferm fertilizer should be used as an organic fertilizer and it should be applied by using a broadcasting method in autumn. It will allow the fertilizer to moisten well, to stimulate the activity of microorganisms which will appear in the soil and will be forming humus as well as mobilize elements of plant nutrition.

      The scientist again was assured, as well as other scientists’ conclusive opinion, on organic fertilizer application. At present, there are no alternatives to the application of organic fertilizers. Consequently, the question of balancing plant nutrition and reproducing of soil fertility applying fermented organic fertilizers is coming to the foreground.

They also consume the highest quantity of moisture needed for a good harvest output.
