           Field and research investigations of Bioproferm organic fertilizer effectiveness

Findings showed advantage of Bioproferm organic fertilizer treatment compared to mineral fertilizing system on all investigated crops (potato, winter wheat).

Potato. Local distribution of 5 t/ha under the potato provided yield capacity of 343 centners/ha while complete distribution of 10 t/ha provided yield capacity of 386 centners/ha. Increment in yield capacity compared to fertilizer omitted situation is: 123 centners/ha, 166 centners/ha respectively.

Level of late blight affection of potato after application of organic fertilizer Bioproferm was the lowest (18-28%) compared to organic fertilizers with more simple composition (30-38%) and mineral fertilizers (40%).

Winter wheat. Distribution of 2 t/ha (local, direct effect) and 5 t/ha (complete distribution, aftereffect) provided increment in yield capacity by 19,2 centners/ha and 19,9 centners/ha compared to control situation (fertilizer omitted) – 25,4 centners/ha. Therefore increment in yield capacity is 70-80% of control situation.

Triticale. For triticale growing the following Bioproferm norms were applied: 6, 4, 2 t/ha. The highest stooling coefficient was provided by Bioproferm norms 2 and 4 t/ha (k=1,3 and k=1,4 respectively) while increment in yield capacity – 6,2 centners/ha and 6,6 centners/ha respectively compared to control situation (mineral background) – 29 centners/ha.

Winter rye had a better reaction on low doses of Bioproferm (2,4 t/ha). Yield capacity during control situation (mineral background) was 33 centners/ha and after application of 2 and 4 t/ha of Bioproferm increased by 12 centners/ha and 9 centners/ha respectively. With higher dosage, a depression of plant growth was observed, and the yield of winter rye decreased.

      The studies have demonstrated the increase of biological activity of the soil fertilized with Bioproferm, creation of conditions favorable for the development of vermibiota (earthworms), increase in humus content, more intense production of CO2, and inflow of sufficient nutrients into the soil. These factors improve the fertility and maintain the environmental balance of sod-podzol loamy soil, which, without any doubt, is beneficial for the increase of yield and quality of the crops.

     Fertilization with Bioproferm improved the fruit setting of tomatoes. More precisely, the fertilization with 2.5 tons of the organic fertilizer per hectare produced 69 fruits per plant, and fertilization with 5 tons per hectare resulted in 91 fruits per plant, which was 13% and 49% higher than on the control field, respectively.

      The use of the organic fertilizer had a positive impact on the yield of the tomatoes. The total yield after fertilization with 2.5 tons of Bioproferm per hectare was 94.7 tons per hectare (28% above the control), with a commercial-grade yield of 70.5 tons per hectare (22% above the control). The total yield after fertilization with 5 tons of Bioproferm per hectare was 120.3 tons per hectare (63% above the control), with a commercial-grade yield of 93.7 tons per hectare (62% above the control).

      The phytosanitary condition of tomato batches showed no increase in foot rot during the mass fruit formation period. Alternaria blight affected the least plants (under 6%) on fields fertilized with 5 tons of Bioproferm per hectare. The development of the disease was insignificant and did not exceed 8%. The most plants (up to 20%) were affected with Alternaria blight on up to 15% of plant surface on the control field. No fungicides were used on any of the study fields.

      The fields fertilized with Bioproferm showed a trend towards the increase of organic substances and humus content.

       The preliminary data make it possible to conclude that the use of Bioproferm organic fertilizer on tomato fields under drip irrigation improves the yield of dark chestnut medium-loamy soils in the Southern Ukraine, improves the phytosanitary condition of the plants, and increases the yield of the tomato without deterioration in the quality of the produce.

      When we had applied liquid Bioproferm (a background + four- time application of the liquid fertilizer: twice through a drip tape and twice on a leaf surface), the plants produced much better vegetative mass, had a 10-15 cm higher main stalk and more side shoots in comparison with a control (background N120).Bioproferm application facilitated better fruit setting in tomatoes. Thus, when we had applied the organic fertilizer, on average, one plant produced 37 fruit, which exceeded control by three times.

      Application of liquid Bioproferm has positively influenced on the tomato yield formation. With the fertilizer application a total tomato yield was 83.4 t/ha (by 37% higher than control), total yield 62.1t/ha (by 32% higher than control). Fruit quality did not differ much and was within 74-76 % under НІР05 10.4 %.

      Based on the above-mentioned data, we can conclude that the organic fertilizer application of Bioproferm in its liquid form when planting tomatoes and using drip irrigation facilitates better yielding capacity without any deterioration of the product quality, it preserves the fertility of dark brown medium loamy soils.

     Localized application of 6 t/ha of Bioproferm to the fields of Y.A. Leliuk farm enterprise (Kherson region) provided almost practically the same crop capacity of sweet pepper as the application of  240-290 t/ha of manure.

     Direct costs for the Bioproferm application in the spring are 15, 000 hryvnias per hectare lower than the application of the manure in the autumn. Cutting expenses in such a way provides higher profitability of pepper cultivation: from 198% to 253%.

     The application of Bioproferm also provides great reproduction of the light loamy chernozem (black soil) fertility from Dniprovska flood plain after producing 60t/ha of standard sweet pepper.

    The experiment that was conducted on spring barley and during which a Bioproferm based plant activator was used (a background + seed processing + two-time non-root fertilization) overall crop capacity was 4.75t/ha. This is 0.3 t/ha (6.74%) higher than a control (mineral system of fertilization N60P60K60).

     Though 2015 was droughty, yet the crop quality grew by 0.12-0.46% of protein.

     The experiment conducted on Kumach tomato seedlings showed the highest crop capacity and was 76.7 t/ha. It was received when applying Bioproferm organic fertilizer in the amount of 6t/ha with the irrigation of 80%. The irrigation efficiency in this case equaled 84 m3/t and was not worse than the best figures of the water consumption ratio in the experiment.

     Under non-irrigated conditions crop production increase after localized application of 6t/ha of Bioproferm was better compared to the application of the equivalent amount of mineral fertilizers N108P100K72 - 14 and 10.4 t/ha, while under the conditions of 80% irrigation it was 37.9 and 38.6 t/ha.

     Application of Bioproferm and mineral fertilizers proved practically the same economic efficiency. In non-irrigated fields they ensured a low cost of produce which made up 730 hryvnias/t and its profitability was 174%, while in irrigated fields the figures were improved accordingly to  690 hryvnias/t and 189%.

     Localized application of organic fertilizer Bioproferm in vegetable farming technologies based on drip irrigation prevents soil from exhaustion in the areas of drip irrigation and allows to fully use fields for vegetable crop rotation without applying fallow farming.

     The preliminary data make it possible to conclude that the use of Bioproferm organic fertilizer on tomato fields under drip irrigation improves the yield of dark chestnut medium-loamy soils in the Southern Ukraine, improves the phytosanitary condition of the plants, and increases the yield of the tomato without deterioration in the quality of the produce.

     The application of loose Bioproferm fertilizer 5t/ha across experimental areas of growing corn for grain (in soddy-podzolic soils) resulted in the crop capacity of 9.2% t/ha and the control growth of +35.3%. Bioproferm proved to be an effective means in humus formation (an increase of humus concentration is +0.11%). This result confirmed all previous experiments carried out on vegetable crops where humus increase was more than 0.2%.                     

     The fields fertilized with Bioproferm showed a trend towards the increase of organic substances and humus content.
